Finished doll measures approximately 7” tall standing.

    General Tips & Techniques:

    Stuff head firmly.

Partially stuff body. Sew bottom to body, leaving a 1” hole for stuffing. Stuff and finish sewing the hole closed.

Sew one end of legs to body, sewing to only 2 rows and approx. 8 stitches across so that legs can be made to sit or stand. Legs are positioned 6 rows up from the bottom of the body, 6 stitches apart.

    Stuff the legs lightly.

    Sew feet to legs.

Thumbs and Big Toes: Using B and yarn needle, sew over and over approx. 10 times over 2 stitches. Then sew back through those stitches the other way approx. 6 times for big toes and thumbs.

Firmly stuff the body and legs. Sew leg bottoms to the bottoms of the legs, adding more stuffing if needed to make the legs firm.

    Enjoy your Sophie Bear!

Finished dolls measure approximately 3” tall (9 cm).

    General Tips & Techniques:
    * Be sure to keep yarn tension firm and consistent throughout your work.
    * At the end of each row, I have given the number of stitches you should have. This is just a guide. If you are off by 1 or 2 stitches, don’t worry about it. Amigurumi is very forgiving.
    * I chose Caron Simply Soft for this pattern. You may substitute any medium-weight worsted yarn.  Bernat Satin or Red Heart Soft work well too.

    Abbreviations:
    ch chain
    hdc half double crochet
    sc single crochet
    sk skip
    sl st slip stitch
    st stitch

    Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (I like Caron Simply Soft, Bernat Satin, or Red Heart Soft).
    Crochet hook size U.S. D-3

Finishing: Use the tail to sew the bottom to the bottom of the body, leaving an approx. 2” opening for stuffing.  Stuff head and body firmly.  Finish sewing body closed.  To hide the yarn end, insert the needle into the body and push up and through the other side.  Pull the yarn tight, and cut it close to the body.  That will hide the yarn end inside the body and prevent it from coming loose.

    Girl’s Hat:
Row 1: Leaving a long tail, ch 4.  Join with sl st in to first st.  Work 10 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull tail to close the hold in the ring.  10 st.
