Finished dolls measure approximately 3” tall (9 cm).

    General Tips & Techniques:
    * Be sure to keep yarn tension firm and consistent throughout your work.
    * At the end of each row, I have given the number of stitches you should have. This is just a guide. If you are off by 1 or 2 stitches, don’t worry about it. Amigurumi is very forgiving.
    * I chose Caron Simply Soft for this pattern. You may substitute any medium-weight worsted yarn.  Bernat Satin or Red Heart Soft work well too.

Worsted weight yarn (I like Caron Simply Soft, Bernat Satin, or Red Heart Soft).

    Instructions: Head Shaping:
Row 1:  Leaving a long tail, ch. 4.  Join with sl st into first st.  Work 10 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull tail to close the hole in the ring, 10 st.  Place marker at beginning of row.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 3:  1 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 4:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 30 st.
Row 5:  1 sc in each sc around, 30 st.
Row 6:  *1 sc in next sc, sc next 2 sc together*, repeat from * to * around, 20 st.
Row 7:  1 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 8:  *Sc next 2 sc together* around, 10 st.  Add craft eyes at this point.
Row 9:  Join body color.  Body shaping: 2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Rows 10-16:  1 sc in each sc around, 20 st.  Join with sl st and end.

    Bottom of body:
Row 1:  Leaving a long tail, ch 4.  Join with sl st in to first st.  Work 10 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull tail to close the hold in the ring.  10 st.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 3:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 30 st.  Join with sl st and end, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing: Use the tail to sew the bottom to the bottom of the body, leaving an approx. 2” opening for stuffing.  Stuff head and body firmly.  Finish sewing body closed.  To hide the yarn end, insert the needle into the body and push up and through the other side.  Pull the yarn tight, and cut it close to the body.  That will hide the yarn end inside the body and prevent it from coming loose.

    Girl’s Hat:
Row 1: Leaving a long tail, ch 4.  Join with sl st in to first st.  Work 10 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull tail to close the hold in the ring.  10 st.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 3:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 30 st.
Rows 4 to 6:  1 sc in each sc around, 30 st.
Row 7:  *1 sc in next 4 sc, sc next 2 sc together*, repeat from * to * around.  End, leaving a long tail for sewing onto the head.

Pigtails: Cut 12, 7”-long strands of yarn in the desired hair color.  Using a yarn needle, sew one of the strands through the top of the head, leaving an even length of the yarn on each side.  Lay the strands of yarn on top of the yarn you sewed into the head and tie the yarn firmly over the yarn strands.  You can now braid each side of the hair or make ponytails or even straight hair.  Sew hat on top of hair and head to secure it.

    Newsboy Cap:
Row 1:  Leaving a long tail, ch 4.  Join with sl st in to first st.  Work 10 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull tail to close the hold in the ring.  10 st.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 3:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 30 st.
Rows 4-6:  1 sc in each sc around, 30 st.
Row 7:  *1 sc in next 4 sc, sc next 2 sc together*, repeat from * to * around.  Ch. 1, turn.
Row 8:  1 sc in next 3 sc.  1 hdc in next 3 sc.  1 sc in next 3 sc.  Ch. 1, turn. Row 9:  1 sc in next 3 sc.  1 hdc in next 3 sc.  1 sc in next 3 sc.  End, weave in yarn end.  The hat can be sewn onto the head if desired.

    Enjoy your new Ogilvy dolls!
